Beautiful Day!

by Confuddled @ 2008-05-11 - 16:01:49

Woke up this morning and it was blue skies and wonderful sunshine!! Isn't life wonderful!! :D Here are some of my musings and going ons today.

Managed to do my chores this morning - weekly shopping, washing - and I even found myself going to the gym! Now, how good is that!?! Came back and decided to spend time in the garden just enjoying the wonderful weather. Did something haven't done for an age, and pulled the sun lounger out and lay in the sun. Just lay there listening to the world around me. It was so peaceful - I could hear the trees swaying in the breeze and from the noise could tell which way the breeze was coming and going; listened to the various birds tweeting; distant sound of people talking in their garden. It really was very relaxing to do nothing but "listen". I'm not very good lying in the sun so in between listening, I was up and down doing odds and sods. Had my fill of the sun today, so have come in doors to blog for a bit.

Whilst lying, I did think about prejudices and stereotyping, and that no matter how open minded we think we are, we always come across something that makes us realise that for some or other reason, we've been "had". Luckily so far in my life, because I am open, I tend to work past these obstacles. Which is just as well as there are aspects of life I would never have experienced if I had closed down.

And a merry meet to you...it is always good to have an open mind ..and it is wise to have stereotypes...the problem comes when we react to stereotypes...as a copper if i see a guy hiding in the bushes at 2 am half naked...well my stereotype of a perve fits in well...but walking up to him and saying "good evening sir...bit under dressed arnt we"...recieved a sob from a groom that was clingfilmed to a tree but escaped and was trying to get home....yes i gave him a lift ...and he got his own back by not telling his mates that he was safe...just his bride to be who played them all really well...but i digress....the thing is not to react to stereo types just be aware ...

glad you had a nice time on the sun bed...not to burnt i hope!!:)

You're right. Thinking about it, not really sure we can ever really be free of "stereotyping". But as you say, as long as we are aware of it and don't jump too quickly to conclusions.

Haven't burnt. :) Luckily I don't burn very easily but also I can never lie down for too long without getting up and moving about. So, in total, I probably didn't spend that long frying!

:)) coppers are from every walk of life some joined at 19 some at 50..they are from the world around you..yet everyone lumps them into a certain stereotype...we all do it ...we should never discourage sterotypeing but should teach how to not judge, assume or react to it......the "bill has alot to answer for...:)):))

it does you good to just relax sometimes.
i find it quite difficult to do nothing - but it is therapeutic and allows your mind to wander ...

Actively listening what's going on around you keeps the mind occupied, but in a more meditative sort of way. Has it been sunny in the Isle of Kev?

I've spent two days out in the garden now - just sitting, dreaming, listening to the birds and watching the butterflies. And it's done me a power of good! :)

It really does! Was lovely to feel the coolness of the grass under barefeet. The weather looks to remain good next week and can't wait until friday as I have the day off. Want to spend some more time pottering around the garden.

I tried the sitting and listening in garden routine. Dog from neighbour 1 yapped all day, neighbour 2 had all the windows open to enable the whole neighbourhood to appreciate rap, neighbour 3 had a bbq burning sending waves of assorted smells of smoke and burning flesh. I went back inside, shut all the windows, put on headphones and relaxed on the settee.

Don't blame you!!! I guess I'm a bit luckier with my neighbours.
