I'm sat in front of the telly, snuffly and feeling very, very sorry for myself. I hate colds - hate having a blocked nose (in this case a blocked left nostril) - hate feeling like I've got all life sucked out.
Fell asleep this afternoon and missed South Africa beating the Fijians. Looked like it was an good game. Missed New Zealand being knocked out last night. Had a beer last night and it totally knocked me for six. Didn't even get to having a hot toddy. Looking at the clock at the moment and wondering whether it's too early to have a hot toddy? I have a tendancy to put a fair bit of whiskey in it and I do need to go into work tomorrow.
What home remedies do you have for colds, that work??

I'll be down in front of the TV for Scotland/Argentina later...
I tend to stick to loads of fluids, paracetamol, and keeping warm for colds. Boring, but it works as well as anything for me.

I genuinely hope the Scots do well tonight! Hope I can keep awake for the game as I would like to watch it.

It would be good!! But I'm not getting my hopes up...
drink as much water as you can it is a wonder treatment for all sorts of things...yet we tend to ignore it.

my remedy is a spicy curry (with a box of tissues on the side) and a LARGE glass of irish whiskey.
then a big overdose of vitamin c and an early night.
next patient please!

Had soup and large hot toddy - no curry in the house nor any vitamin C. Will have an early night though.

It is never too early to have a hot toddy. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanx - a week later still feeling a bit snuffly but nearly through my bottle of whiskey! Think these bugs kinda like the malt medication.

Contac tablets are fab for the unblocking. You do kind of stream...a bit then it just clears. Then the old paracetamol...as well as ibuprofen as that gets rid of aches...hot toddy...lots of Vick around the chest area...just make sure you wash it off before having nookie! It can burn the tongue...eyes and whatever else may be thrust between your breasts!
And water...lots of...
Then...tomorrow, get the sexiest undies...the most comfy tho too...put them on ...i9t will help the way you feel at work!
Night x

Believe it or not, felt too ucky to even go shopping. Work was a bit manic which didn't help. I'll have to make up for it next week.

I don't like the so-called cold remedy medicines, all they do is suppress the symptoms, and as soon as you stop taking the medication, the symptoms are back.
I always use nose spray (only while I have the cold!) because it's such a relief to be able to breathe again, and lots of vitamin c because that also helps your body to fight the cold (your immune system needs vitamin c to operate efficiently). It doesn't make the symptoms disappear, nor does it suppress anything, you just feel better overall.
Get well soon! xx

Have tried to keep clear of nose sprays, but after a few nights of not being able to sleep well with blocked nose, have resorted to them. So between that and my hot toddy, I seem to be fighting them pesky bugs.
